New POKÉMON Ultra Sun and Moon Poster Hints at Darker Story
The Magic of Kids' Anime
Game on, duelists! Fans of YU-GI-OH the anime, manga, and competitive card game will be excited to hear about the progress of the iconic series’ mobile app, YU-GI-OH! DUEL LINKS. Players in the app can use dozens of cards from the trading card game to create custom decks and duel. The duel functionality of the app allows players to challenge each other over a wireless connection and complete missions by defeating duelists from the series.
Classic characters like Yugi Moto and Seito Kaiba are available as opponents, and beating them gives the player a chance to obtain their signature cards. For fans who have yet to download the addicting game, this means you can wield cards like Dark Magician with just a few taps on your smartphone. Up to this point, DUEL LINKS included only monsters and opponents from the first generation of duelists. Now, a new update brings in the second generation, YU-GI-OH! GX.

For those unfamiliar with the anime and manga series behind the card game, the first series follows the adventures of Yugi Moto. Yugi is an up and coming duelist in possession of a rare Egyptian item, the Millennium Puzzle. When a duel gets tough, Yugi is able to call on the spirit of a pharaoh within this pyramid-shaped necklace to increase his dueling ability several-fold. A duel is won with a combination of powerful monster cards and excellent strategy. With help from the Puzzle, Yugi becomes a truly formidable duelist.
DUEL LINKS takes this story to a ‘virtual arena’, but YU-GI-OH has had several full-length arcs since the original. With the new update, DUEL LINKS players can now battle the duelists of YU-GI-OH! GX and their signature decks.
The special announcement comes via a YouTube trailer for United States players:
On top of that, a Japanese trailer introduces four characters from GX, Jaden Yuki, Chazz Princeton, Aster Phoenix, and Alexis Rhodes. The new trailer introduces these characters and shows off some action from their cards. Jaden Yuki’s signature card, Elemental HERO Neos, definitely shows off some moves. In addition, there’s an exciting new story to follow within the game. Check out that YouTube video below:

Older fans will certainly remember the popularity of the first YU-GI-OH series. The training card game was released by KONAMI in 1998 and now has millions of active players worldwide. With the promise of updates like this one, the app will grow along with the anime series as it includes more and more characters.
DUEL LINKS launched early last year in Japan and has expanded to the rest of the world this year. Despite the gap in release dates, updates are being rolled out together. As a series with so much history behind it, YU-GI-OH! DUEL LINKS will delight fans both old and new. The game stays the same even when the cards and characters change. As new cards grace the playing field, it’s time to show the rest of the world that you’re the true King of Games!
