Multiple generations of incredible ninja have arrived in a fresh mobile game! Although the NARUTO anime and manga have been over for nearly a year, BORUTO: NARUTO NEXT GENERATION is poised to keep fans hooked. Bandai has made use of its license of the two series to create a new game specifically for mobile devices. NARUTO x BORUTO: NINJA VOLTAGE follows standard RPG formatting, making it a lot different from usual NARUTO games. NARUTO games began as 2D fighting games, eventually moving to 3D along with a few console RPGs. While the format may have changed, popular characters are still playable in the app. Fan favorites like Naruto, Boruto, Sarada, Kakashi, and Sasuke can use their unique powers to best other players.
According to app store descriptions for NARUTO x BORUTO: NINJA VOLTAGE, this new game is a fusion of action and strategy. Prior games almost universally involve basic attacks and occasional jutsu, especially those on the mobile format. Games like NARUTO x BORUTO: NINJA VOLTAGE branch off into different gaming formats to capture multiple kinds of players.
For those unfamiliar with NARUTO, the story centers around Naruto Uzumaki, a fledgling ninja with a dream of becoming Hokage, the strongest ninja in his village. The series follows Naruto’s escapades and training as he meets new enemies and becomes a brilliant ninja in his own right. BORUTO: NARUTO NEXT GENERATIONS follows Naruto’s son, Boruto, as he navigates a rapidly modernizing ninja world and enjoys his childhood with friends.
A New Kind of Gameplay
Players in NARUTO x BORUTO: NINJA VOLTAGE build fortresses and defend against attacks from other players. Basic action elements are still there, and players can use simple touch controls to attack and launch jutsu. On top of that, the game takes advantage of improving smartphone hardware to render fights with beautiful graphics and crisp movement. On the defense side, fortresses can be filled with traps to defend against enemies. In order to consistently win, players need to consistently use both offensive and defensive strategies. If that wasn’t enough, the game supports 4-player online multiplayer missions.
